Death Valley National Park in winter is such a great place if you enjoy sparseness. There are very few people and cars, it’s not particularly cold, though it can be windy and dusty. Above all, there’s a sort of minimalism to the scenery that I enjoy.

A flat valley floor of white sand stretches into the distance. A few desert shrubs are scattered around, but they don't look like they are winning. A mountain in the background slopes down from right to left. Two or three small clouds sit above the mountain, in blue sky that is obscured by wind-blown dust.
